HEALTH DEPARTMENT

St. Henry's College Kitovu sick bay department provides good nursing care and treatment to the school community. It is located near the Brother’s Residence.

Staffing:

The department is under Ocean Health Care with two Nurses; Ms Namisango Miriam, an enrolled nurse and Ms. Nalubega betty, a registered nurse. The two are assisted by two health ministers. The department is under direct supervision of Dr. Buyinza Joshua and Dr. Darlson Kananura accompanied by Clinician Mugagga Conrad and Mugalu Jenan, a Laboratory technician.

Activities:

  • We provide treatment to the entire students body and staff and scans and X-rays treatment is all given and catered for by the school.
  • Patients are given health education, counseling where necessary and follow ups are done to patients on daily basis.
  • We refer cases to the Hospitals where specialists are needed.
  • At school, rapid diagnostic tests are done and microscopy is also available. For further and extra inpatient admissions, we work with Kitovu Hospital, Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for major cases and medical procedures for Ophthalmology, eye cases medical procedures and Equator Dental care for Dental cases however, where necessary, parents are involved.
  • Medical services are provided 24hours. Verbal and written reports made and given on daily basis to relevant authorities.

Facilities:

  • The sick bay has two residential houses for the nurses who work full time.
  • The sick bay has two wards, students and staff. A treatment room well equipped Laboratory respectively for blood samples, a scan room and a Doctor's room.
  • Each ward accommodates around 12 patients who need resting and special attention and monitoring including good nursing care.
