CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

General Information:

Christian Religious Education Department handles the teaching and assessment of subject content that encompasses life issues that affect man (Christians) and his relationship with God that no student should miss.

It is a  broad subject that covers a number of papers and at St. Henry’s College Kitovu, we teach Christian Living Today P223/1 at O’ level. It covers four important dimensions; Present Situation, African tradition, the experience of the Christian churches in Africa; and the teaching of the Bible. These are handled in the intellectual way with an open mind which makes it totally different from theology and faith ideology. It does not matter whether a student is a Christian or not.

At A’ level, we teach C.R.E P245/1,2 and 4. ie. Old Testament, the New Testament and Ethical issues and approach based on African traditional values respectively. It is a fundamental subject for various courses at the University and other tertiary institutions especially Law.    

It’s one of the oldest departments that prides in Good performance since the establishment of the mighty college which has continued to nurture SHACKISTS into responsible and successful citizens.

Activities:

It prides in effective and dedicated teaching, student tailored Discussions, Seminars, Counseling students and giving the Best Moral education to students based on ethic values.

The Department starting this year 2019 is venturing into organizing an O'Level C.R.E 233/1 Teacher's workshop. The aim is to improve performance in schools through sharing experiences with other Teachers in other schools. This Workshop will be carried out annually to benefit the Teachers in the Region.

Facilities:

• You cannot find anywhere an experienced Team of teachers as resourceful as those of this Department. In addition, adequate reference Books, Departmental Notes, and teaching syllabus are all available to cater for students needs.
• To students, excellence is guaranteed, to parents its quality work and value for money and to members of the department, a gate way to promotion for higher posts as it nurtures the best administrators.
